We have an intriguing fight in the Middleweight division, as Dalcha “Champion” Lungiambula takes on Cody Brundage. Since debuting in June of 2019, Lungiambula has traded wins and losses in his four fights inside the octagon. Looking for some consistency, the former EFC Heavyweight Champion will look to reenter the win column. Meanwhile, Brundage comes into this fight looking for his first UFC victory. Having debuted on short notice, the former LFA veteran will look to prove that a full training camp will equal better results.
As for a prediction, I have Lungiambula winning. While I’m far from certain of this prediction, I believe that Lungiambula’s physical strength will give Brundage fits. As a former Heavyweight, Lungiambula is an imposing figure in the Middleweight division. He may not be the tallest, but his base, strength and power make him a dangerous opponent to stand across from. Having seen Brundage rely mostly on his wrestling throughout his career, I’m not certain he will be able to get this fight to the mat. While Brundage is not incompetent on the feet, and is the higher output striker, Lungiambula has proven that he isn’t just a striker. Landing seven takedowns at a 46% clip in four fights, Lungiambula has mixed in his wrestling to neutralize foes. Given Brundage did fairly well against fending off takedown attempts from Nick Maximov, there is a chance Lungiambula has trouble. However, his physical strength is unmatched and I foresee him landing some takedowns and gaining valuable control time. In what I expect to be a close fight, Lungiambula does enough to sway the judges, winning via decision.
